"Frank Powdermaker's playing of the Bach A Minor Violin Concerto Saturday night was extraordinary. His concept of sound, his articulation, and his sense of phrasing reminded me of a cross between David Nadien and Nathan Milstein. Many violinists play their instruments well, but there are few 21st-century violinists who "walk the walk" with the musical values of the early 20th century. It was one of the most exciting and beautiful performances I have heard of the piece, and the best performance of it I have had the privilege of hearing in real time and in real acoustics. ..."

"As an accomplished violinist, Frank has many accolades and skills under his belt. As an experienced teacher, Frank is patient and flexible towards his students. I learned a lot from Frank in the two years that I studied with him. He teaches not only techniques of playing the violin, but he also teaches one to appreciate the music and to sing with the violin. I highly recommend Frank as a violin teacher. He is one of the best musical educators out there."

"Frank Powdermaker's teaching was absolutely essential for my music school audition preparation. Because of this, I have always felt he played a crucial role in this important step towards my musical future. I remember how well he could explain and demonstrate both technique and musicality convincingly and therefore achieve results. He even chose the very instrument upon which I still play and it has served me well all these years. Although I went on to study with several big named teachers, I wish I'd studied with Frank longer."
